School Overview
How it all Began
Laurus International is today a thriving community of more than 1400 students and 250 teachers, tracing its beginnings back to two parents with a clear purpose: to equip children with the tools to flourish in a connected and rapidly changing world.
Since 2001, founders Mr Kyomi Hioki and Mrs Mami Hioki have devoted themselves to equipping children with the tools and knowledge to succeed in an uncertain and constantly changing world.
Their common mission led to the development of an International School focussed on building critical thinking through consistent hands-on, scientific experiments and observations. This approach to education quickly found a following and has since gone from strength to strength.
We know this school today as Laurus International School of Science - one of Tokyo’s established educational institutions and the only international science school in Japan. We remain very much rooted in the foundational spirit of entrepreneurship, hands-on learning, scientific thinking, and the belief that through care and education we can become future innovators who change the world for the better .
